Make Your Mark – For a BC Park

B.C.’s Provincial Parks have the power to change lives. Whether visitors are inspired by the awesome beauty of a mountain range, witnessing wildlife in their natural habitat or lazing away a hot summer afternoon on the beaches of a pristine lake or river, BC Parks creates unforgettable memories.

Now, as part of British Columbia’s 150th celebration, you can play a part in strengthening the enduring connection between people and parks through the new Make Your Mark – For a BC Park program.

Make Your Mark – For a BC Park offers the chance to recognise your special connection to parks through sponsorship of enhancement projects such as new benches, picnic tables, solar powered showers or tree planting. Whether you want to commemorate a loved one, honour a family member or friend, or simply offer your support to these extraordinary places, Make Your Mark – For a BC Park will ensure that everyone has the opportunity to have a Provincial Park experience of a lifetime.

The generosity of sponsors is recognised on the BC Parks Website and a bronze plaque may be placed on the amenity. Donations are tax deductable; tax receipts are issued upon request.

Sponsor Some Trees!

Help us replant some of your favourite campgrounds!

In the past few years, a number of park campgrounds have had hazard trees removed to ensure public safety. The trees that were removed had been damaged by natural causes such as storms and high winds, mountain pine beetle or other insect infestations.

Now it's time to replant these campgrounds with new trees. With your donation, we will plant and maintain native tree species that are well-suited to specific campgrounds. As the trees grow, they will recreate a natural and beautiful setting and provide shade for park visitors on those hot summer days. As an added bonus, these new trees will also be storing carbon, more and more as they grow, helping us all fight climate change by reducing carbon in the atmosphere.

Sponsorship opportunities exist in most BC Parks and we invite all requests. However, each request must be assessed for ecological impact and be in accordance with Park Management Plans. For these reasons, all requests and locations may not be possible.

A bronze plaque can be placed on the bench or picnic table for dedication purposes.
Plaques are a standard size (2" by 6") and allow for 3 lines of text with each line consisting of a maximum 50 characters (including spaces between words and punctuation).

Inscriptions:

• Inscriptions should have a positive, uplifting theme;
• Dates that indicate lifetime span are not used;
• Wording is to be kept in the present tense.

The Make Your Mark process is:

• Review information on website;
• Make three decisions:
  1. What kind of sponsorship do you want?  Do you want a bench, picnic table, plant some trees etc…
  2. How much do you want to spend?  See cost information next to each item listed on website.
  3. Location (which park)
• Contact Project Manager;
• Project Manager works with BC Parks regional staff to determine whether the requested location is available;
• If location is available, Project Manager will request payment;
• When payment is received, Parks staff will initiate project.
